Dingoden Family Outback Yapper

Welcome to our Family blog. It will try to capture the various asundry activities of our mundane lives, but with an attempt at making it seem not quite so mundane.

Planting a Little Vegetable Garden

We've been talking about planting a little vegie garden
ever since we moved into this house five months ago. Today
was the day! We went to the nursery and bought soil (plants
don't grow well in red clay!) and some seedlings. The kids had
fun playing in the nursery's playground -- and especially enjoyed
the bowl of ice cream from the nursery's cafe. Mom and Grams
relaxed with a cool drink too (iced chocolate/iced coffee).

This evening after dinner we all headed out to the garden. We
turned over the very hard/solid clay dirt, but then put five bags
of potting soil on top (as a raised garden). Logan surprised us
with his strength -- lifting a 2/3 full bag upright and pulling the
plastic bag off.

Finally, the kids planted the seedlings. We hope to grow tomato
plants, lettuce and some bell peppers (capsicums). And, we might
also plant some seeds in the next few days as well.
