Mom, Logan and Delenn... On Their Own!
This was the first week Mom was on her own with the kids. Sadly, Daddy
had to go back to work "on the big bus" as Logan says.
Mom, Logan and Delenn had a great morning on Monday, playing games,
playing outside and so forth. Even nap time went well with Logan happily
going in to read books and sing songs. But then he didn't nap! (He
didn't nap on Thursday either!) So, we've instituted the mandatory
"Quiet Time." Mom said Logan could play with the toys in his room
(there's a bin of toys that he's essentially outgrown under his crib).
Throughout naptime Mom could hear him chatting away. At one point when
Mom went in to check on him, Logan was cradling a "baby" in his arms and
talking to it.
Logan's imagination play is really fun to watch. One evening this week,
Logan took about a dozen toys one-by-one to the "naughty spot" to "take
five." He still loves playing with cars and trucks, but has now added
people to the mix -- giving the firemen rides in the bus and so forth.
Logan also has become interested in puzzles. He particularly loves a
giant T-Rex puzzle that Melissa passed on to us -- a 20-piece giant
floor puzzle.
Logan still loves Delenn and wants her to play with him (though
sometimes there is some underlying aggression in those hugs and pats as
we found some fingerprint bruises on one of her feet). He still goes up
to her to talk to her, to bring her toys or to show her things like the
newest cicada he has found. In fact, he often doesn't want her to sleep
because he wants to interact with her. And, when she cries or fusses for
her 5 am feed Logan jumps out of bed and wants to join her and Mommy.
(Daddy tries to head him off before he goes into the room.) At times he
wants to comfort her and says "I'll pick her up." We have to make it
clear that she's too weak for him to pick up but that he can hold her in
the big soft chair. But, there's another side as well. One day Delenn
was crying to be picked up. Something was bothering Logan and he was
upset so he turned to Delenn and said "No! I'M crying!"
We've been telling you how well Logan speaks. He has 8 word sentences
and uses prepositional phrases well. He often says some amusing things.
For example, when he got a 3 liter jug of milk out of the fridge he
said, "OH! I'm SO strong!"
Logan really enjoyed arts and crafts with Mom -- helping to make and
decorate turkeys for Thanksgiving (by gluing the feathers and googly
eyes on) and doing hundreds of stickers and foamies over the course of
the week.
Delenn is becoming more and more alert. She's got huge smiles for Mom.
She still spits up a bit, but is not needing as much snuggle/arm time as
last week (a relief since Daddy had to go back to work).
That's about it from Mom this week. It's a rare thing for Mom to have
computer time -- and Delenn is making it clear that it's time for a
feed!
