Welcome to the Main Family blog. It will try to capture the various asundry activities of our mundane lives, but with an attempt at making it seem not quite so mundane.

A blurred week and a new arrival, GRAMS!

Last Sunday morning we all went to Logan's good friends Nicholas and
Holly's Birthday Party and Holly's house. There was much fun, good arts
& crafts, and lots of cake and ice cream to eat! Logan for the first
time had a really difficult time with the concept of a birthday party in
which he did not get any gifts. He was so adamant that some of the
presents were meant for him and that he should get to open them that Mom
had to pick him up and carry him a little ways away to calm him down
just a tad bit. Of course, it could've been the cake and ice cream as
that sugar rush appears to affect the kid (what kid wouldn't be affected
by a sugar rush in a little body!)

Tuesday Mom cleaned the place in anticipation of Grams arrival and then
went off to Kindergym. Logan napped until 3 and then after waking up
comatose, he spied Grams who had showed up and brought Logan (and his
soon-to-be newborn Sister) multitudes of gifts. Logan fell in love with
a matchbox pickup truck and a larger cement truck with buttons. Grams
played hardily with Logan and after dinner she started jet lagging a bit.

Wednesday after getting up at 6:20 AM we were low key playing and after
lunchtime went to the Town pool for a very cool and invigorating swim.

Thursday Logan woke up at 5:30 AM (must be taking on some of Grams jet
lag) and Dad and Grams and Logan went to the Desert Park to see the
animals while Mom went to spend some quality time with one of her
friends. The flies were somewhat relentless and didn't give Logan much
of a chance... they practically flew off with him, licking the dribbling
snot from his runny nose. Only the nocturnal house provided any reprieve.

Friday Logan woke up early again (at 6:00 AM). Mom and Grams went for
a nice walk to the playground after breakfast. After returning, Dad
took Logan to Play Group while Mom and Grams went to the Grocery store.
Grams showed up at Play Group an hour after it started (it is generally
two hours long) At Play Group Logan enjoyed fishing and dirtying his
diaper! After Play Group Dad made the mistake of showing Grams around
town (Mom spent quality time with a different friend this time). This
was a mistake because it meant Logan had more than 5 minutes to sit in
the seat and fall asleep! No! Logan falling asleep in the car means
he'll have a quick power nap and then be awake for the rest of the day
with no nap. Sure enough, we got Logan home and had a bite to eat.
Dad then spent the next 2.5 hours trying desperately to get him down to
sleep to no avail. The reason for Logan's need to sleep today was
especially due to the fact that he's getting a cold and that we went out
to Baby Seth's 1 year old birthday party that evening. Oh well.
Luckily we went to the party and Logan did pretty well... at least until
getting cake and ice cream! He was overtired and inconsolable when
putting him to bed at the late hour of 9 PM. Luckily we don't do this
all the time.

Today Dad and Logan went to Squiggles to play with Bradon and Jesse. It
was about 2.5 hours of non-stop fun. One boy was a bit difficult to
deal with and took some of the things (like a car) that Logan was
playing with. As per Mom's teachings, Logan was quite upset and called
out "STOP!" to the boy while holding out his hand. This didn't really
help Logan get back the item and so Dad was forced to calm Logan down
and explain that Logan did the right thing in not stooping to the other
boy's level. The rest of the time Logan enjoyed climbing around and
building castle towers with Bradon by using Legos. He especially liked
crashing the tower to the ground after building it up really high. One
thing Logan kept trying to do that was a bit naughty was in trying to
open a little girl's birthday presents that was on a table close to the
legos!
Later in the afternoon, after a much-needed nap, Logan and Dad and Grams
went out to get Dad's mail. Logan was in his bike and his main
objective was to get ice cream from the close-by gas station. Well, Dad
had a homemade apple popcicle from Mom to give him... so Dad went in to
the gas station to 'pretend' by the popsicle but once again Logan proved
his mettle. He quickly opened the ice cream freezer in the store and
took out a popsicle. He then smooshed it down, forcing Dad to be in the
required position of having to buy the ice cream. That varmint kid!!
Oh well, most of the ice cream melted pretty quickly so Logan didn't get
quite as much ice cream as he might've had if he had left it in one
piece. The rest of the walk was anguish as Logan complained bitterly of
the flies swarming his ice cream encrusted face.
