This morning Logan helped Mom make pancakes for breakfast. He helped pour the flour, baking powder and other dry goods into the mixing bowl and then stirred the batter getting it ready to cook. He then climbed into his chair awaiting his pancakes. Just as the butter melted, the power went out. Liesl suggested he get down and play, but he wouldn’t get out of the chair! In fact, he waited patiently (more or less) for five minutes until the power came back on and then another five for the pancakes to be done!
At 9:00am Mom and Logan were off for the morning activities. He was a bit shy upon entering Kindermusik, but quickly warmed up and enjoyed the running, dancing and rolling activities! A couple of times other kids ran over to the window and stopped participating. Liesl quietly told him they were being naughty and that he had to stay with her. He resisted the temptation to run over with the other/s and actually stayed with the activities (tapping sticks and doing circle dances).
After Kindermusik Mom and Logan were off to the next activity, Kindergym. Logan asked for water. This happened to be the one day Mom didn’t bring both milk AND water (since he normally asks for milk). Logan kept saying, “No, I want water.” Luckily they have a drinking fountain at the YMCA! As always, he enjoyed all the different activities. Today, he especially liked the ball that was hung up (with a small tennis racket to bat at it). And, he did a great job waiting for his turn!
One of our family traditions since Logan was about one has been to hold hands at dinner for a moment to give thanks. We say, “Let’s be thankful,” close our eyes and are quiet for a minute or so. Logan usually closes his eyes and obviously understands the concept of being quiet for tonight he said, “No talking. No talking!”
