Dingoden Family Outback Yapper

Welcome to our Family blog. It will try to capture the various asundry activities of our mundane lives, but with an attempt at making it seem not quite so mundane.

The lovely sound of one's own heartbeat

Dad took a good portion of the morning off today so he could go with Mom
and Logan to their first mid-wives appointment at the hospital. Logan's
favorite part during the appointment was where he got to listen to his
forthcoming baby Sister's heartbeat, and then he got to listen to his
own. Towards the end of our time there, Logan lifted up his shirt and
asked for "Heartbeat" again just to make sure his heart hadn't
stopped. The mid-wife obliged and Logan really loved sitting there
staring into space as he could listen to the thumping of his heartbeat.
When Dad went back to work, Mom took Logan off to a new 'Playgroup' at
the Toy Library. There he got to play with other kids, do arts and
crafts, learn to do basic things like deal with tableware, etc... both
Mom and Logan thoroughly enjoyed it. 'Playgroup' essentially was a
pre-pre-school only parents must be there for supervision.
All that activity in the morning meant Mommy and Logan were tired, so
they slept longer than normal for nap time, but when they got up they
started working on making Logan's birthday cake! They both had heaps
of fun, especially when they got to lick the mixer handles and bowl.
Mom commented that when Logan asked to lick the mixer handles she was
surprised because he hadn't ever been told he could do this before.
With all that effort put into making the birthday cake, Logan was
extremely upset after it was baked that he couldn't eat it yet! It was
difficult to get him down as he just kept repeating how much he wanted
to eat that birthday cake!
Oh, on another note, Dad took Logan a few blocks away to the
'demountable' to get the mail that comes from our Dallas PO box in the
U.S.A. What made this trip special was the fact that Logan rode on his
trike the whole way there, with feet on his pedals (Daddy pushing from
behind), for the first time ever. Normally before he'd make it about
20-30 feet before fretting and getting off to run back home.
