Dingoden Family Outback Yapper

Welcome to our Family blog. It will try to capture the various asundry activities of our mundane lives, but with an attempt at making it seem not quite so mundane.

Reptile Center and relaxation

While Dad was at work, everyone generally had an easier-going day
relaxing and trying to catch up from the jet lag. Daddy had woken up
with Uncle Tom, Auntie Cynthia, and Amelia having been awake since a
little earlier than 6 AM. In fact Mommy, who hadn't even been on the
plane, woke up at about 4:30 AM and proceeded to work on her classroom
on the internet (her typing keeping Daddy awake the whole time). In the
afternoon they all went out to the Alice Springs Reptile Center to see,
feel, and touch the snakes and lizards. At home afterwards they watched
a movie called the 'Last Starfighter' which is what was playing when
Daddy arrived. Because of this, Dad played cards with the two kids not
into the flick.... that being Logan and Nissa. First we tried to match
cards together, then Nissa hid the cards and Uncle Tony had to find
them. After the movie, Amelia continued to read the 'Horrible
Histories' magazine that we've been buying and saving for her. In fact,
that's what she was doing when I woke up in the morning, so she sure
does enjoy 'em. I believe she's already read 5 or 6 'Horrible
Histories' and they've only been here a little over one day!
Dinner time and we all ate a wonderful feast of chicken, mashed potatoes
with gravy, salad, and biscuits with butter and honey. No one loved the
tomatoes in the salad, most especially Amelia, who also didn't like the
lettuce, mainly because it was on the harder side of what it tastes like
at home. Logan and Nissa both didn't like the mashed potatoes much
either, but Nathaniel pointed out that it was the best meal ever!
Logan did really like the dark meat of the chicken, as well as his peas,
but then he always seems to like peas. During the meal, Logan pushed
on Uncle Tom's pants and said 'button'. Daddy responded with "that's
not a button" but then looked over and saw that Logan was indeed pushing
Uncle Tom's pocket button... Dad's mistake. After dinner, everyone
watched a bit of Amelia's schoolwork home video project all about
various animals, including snakes and toads, all on the big movie screen
we've got set up. Quite a show and something Uncle Tony really wants to
get to watch the rest of. Nissa went to bed shortly thereafter and
Uncle Tony played a game of 'pokemon' with Nathaniel. We used some of
Nathaniel's toy stuffed animals, in which Uncle Tony had three
'water-power' animals and Nathaniel had two 'fire-power' animals.
Needless to say Uncle Tony was pulverised and decimated by Nathaniel's
superior attackers, even with Uncle Tony's almost invincible stuffed duck.
Mom called Dad over to put Logan to bed, not only because it was Daddy's
night to do so, but because she and Auntie Cynthia were headed out for
dinner and practice at Mom's 'Alexandria Quartet' weekly practice
session (where Mommy plays the oboe as the fifth member of the
Alexandria Quartet). Speaking of the Alexandria Quartet, it is named
such even though they are a five member group because they were
originally a four member group and thus named themselves after a famous
set of books called the Alexandria Quartet (believe it might be a
mystery type series of books).
So after reading Logan his favorite truck and car picture book followed
by a favorite "Professor Cockatoo's Amazing WeatherDust Machine", Logan
was put down and he then pretty easily succumbed to slumber.
